How To Get What You Really Want From A Genie

Last updated on April 10th, 2024

Imagine yourself in a second-hand store, browsing through the eclectic collection that a lot of people would simply call junk. While looking at the various items, you pick up an old, dusty lamp. To get a better look at the condition of the lamp you rub it with your sleeve to clean it up a little. Amazingly, out comes a genie that can grant you wishes!

The genie is released into your command. You can now get whatever you want! How exciting!! What would you ask for? Most people would probably ask for fame, fortune, or love.

Do we Know What we Want?

When asked for a specific request, would the genie’s master be able to make a wish from the genie and get what they really want? Would we hesitate? Would we need some time to figure out what we would really want, or would we know what we want right away?

In the stories with Genies, all the people who find the lamp are given a limited number of wishes. The TV show “I Dream of Jeanie” is an exception to the limited wishes given. Since there is a limited number of wishes given, we would want to have a little bit to make sure that we ask for the best we can ask for.

Is It Crystal Clear?

I love the movie “Bedazzled“! In the movie, Eliot is given seven wishes by the Devil. She grants him his wishes, but it is just too easy for the wishes to be “misinterpreted”. In one wish Eliot wished to be rich and powerful. The Devil granted him the wish by making him a drug cartel. That was not what he had in mind! We can suffer a similar fate if we do not make our wishes (or goals) crystal clear.

If we know what we want and our goals are clear, we should be able to just rattle off what we would like to the genie. Not only would we be able to tell the genie what we want, we should know it clear enough that the wish could not be misinterpreted.

Keep Yourself Focused

We tend to see what we focus on or think about. It’s amazing the way that when we get a new vehicle we start to see that same make, model, and color vehicle EVERYWHERE! Maybe that has to do more with awareness than focus, but it still works with wishes, goals, or dreams.

I wrote a post about Focusing Our Effort in regard to rewards cards. Focus is an important part of our life. When we focus an area, we tend to see things in relation to that area. We start to see opportunities that will help us attain our goals.

Put Our Mind On Autopilot

When we focus on what we want, we supercharge our goals the same way we can supercharge our finances. (.ca link) Our subconscious mind works on things without direct effort from us. While our mind works on autopilot, we do need to re-enforce our desires upon our mind.

When we read about what we want. Learn about what we want. We become educated buyers. Our mind will also start to look for ways for us to accomplish our goals and dreams.

We Can Release Our Genie

When we plan our life and our finances, we know where we want to go in life. If we were presented with a genie that would grant us three wishes, we would be able to tell those desires to the genie without hesitation, and we would get our desires without distortion or misinterpretation.

The good news is that our mind is our own magical genie! It can grant our wishes and fulfill our desires. We ask, and our mind delivers! Our subconscious mind is there to help us achieve what we want. We need to feed it with the right information.

Let’s take advantage of this amazing gift we have been given. We can use this genie within us to accomplish the things in life that we want to accomplish.
