Get Paid to Walk with Sweatcoin
Last updated on April 9th, 2024
I am an affiliate with sweatcoin. When you follow my link to their site and sign up, I am rewarded with Sweatcoin. It costs you nothing to join the program.
While my handyman work was slow in the winter, I went online looking for some other ways to earn some extra money. I wanted something I could do whether I was working or not. One of the interesting ways I found to earn money is with Sweatcoin. While it does not pay cash, the coins can be redeemed for goods and services offered through their partners.
In order to earn Sweatcoin we must have our phone on our person for the steps to be counted. They have an algorithm for counting the steps that earn the coins. Since I always have my phone on me, that is not a problem, unless I am at home. With all the “Stay at Home” orders this spring, this has been challenging!
Since we have all been encouraged and required to stay at home as much as possible, it is even more important for us to get outside and walk in the fresh air. I will now share some tips for how to get the most out of Sweatcoin.
Share & Compare
Do you think you walk more than your friends walk? Send your friends an invite and then you can follow them and see you and the friends’ qualified steps for the day. You will also be rewarded with 5 Sweatcoin for inviting people to join!
If you don’t care about competing with your friends, you can always go on walks with them. What a great opportunity to spend time with people you like, out in the fresh air, and you all are getting some exercise and earning all at the same time. Just remember to keep your distance from each other!
Claim Your Daily Bonus
Sweatcoin has a daily bonus! All you must do is remember to claim it every day. The bonus changes periodically, which is cool. When I got started the daily reward started at 1 coin, the second day was 2 coins, and the third day in a row was 4 coins. Then, it would reset to day number 1. Currently, there are 3 chances daily to win up to 25 coins! Even if we are couch potatoes during this economic shut-down, we can still earn some coins! Ok, we do have to walk to get the second and third chances to win coins every day.
Upgrade to Earn More
The initial level is called “Mover” and allows you to earn 5 Sweatcoin per day. There are several different levels with the highest being “Breaker” which allows you to earn 20 Sweatcoin per day. The mover level is free, while the other levels cost you Sweatcoin every month.
Make sure that you get all the coins that you can get. Once you reach the daily limit, there are no addition coins earned that day. Don’t let this happen on a regular basis. Also, don’t upgrade unless you will get the benefit from that upgrade.
Walk for Health
Exercise is something I personally need to do more. Sweatcoin has encouraged me to walk more. Not every step counts because the intention of the app is to get people walking for exercise. Activities such as biking and running on a treadmill do not help you earn coins. They are still good things to do, just remember that Sweatcoin only pays for walking.
If you don’t go for walks with friends (or for social distancing purposes), you could always take your dog for a walk. Dogs love walks! And, if you don’t have a dog, you could probably borrow a neighbor’s dog.
At bedtime I have walked the length of our house a few times just to get a few more steps in so I can reach a daily goal. Even if I were to not be paid anything for the additional walking, this app is worth it in my opinion.
Walk for Wealth
So, I’ve covered the fact that Sweatcoin pays us to walk. How can we improve our wealth even more by walking to earn the coins? Driving less! Instead of driving to every store we need to go to, why not park centrally and do more walking then driving? If we park strategically, we can drop off items in the car on your way to the next stop. This not only allows us to walk more, it saves on gas and wear & tear on our vehicles. That means less maintenance costs and a longer lifespan for the vehicle. Let’s bring back this old-fashioned idea.
I know that walking to the stores may not be the answer. Big shopping trips, rain, snow, and extreme temperatures can erase the desire to walk to stores. Also, the different stores may be in different towns. I get it. I just want to get people thinking about ways they can walk more and drive less.
Walk for Happiness
Spending time outdoors in the fresh air is good for our health, and good for our mood. Even during these uncertain times, we can get outside and uplift our spirits.
Another way we can boost our happiness is by parking farther from the store. Why do we need to fight for the closest parking spot? If we opt for a spot a little further away from the store, we will usually find one immediately! We also get in more steps! Less stress makes room for more happiness in our life.
Persistent and Consistent
It will take a while to earn the Sweatcoin needed for the big rewards. I figure it will most likely take me at least three years. So what! In three years, I will be three years older. Would I rather get a large reward or not? I’ll take the reward, thank you very much!!
As of April 2020, only Apple watches count steps. Unfortunately, the Gear Fit 2 that my wife & I have do not work with Sweatcoin. They are on working on including other smart watches and Fit Bits ability to count steps.
